Fishing news: 26 pounds wins Jr. Hawg Hungers Big Bass Blast

Garret Rocamora and Jackson Williams had 26.37 pounds to win the Lakeland Jr. Hawg Hunters third annual Big Bass Blast tournament Oct. 10 on the Kissimmee Chain. Travis Finley and Levi Brown took second with 25.81 pounds. Kyle Brewer and Steven Coleman Jr. took third with 16.18 pounds, including the big bass of 7.67 pounds.

Raymond Tomlinson, fishing solo, had 11.6 pounds to win the Happy Hookers Bass Club tournament Oct. 10 on Lake Reedy. Charles Stephens and Michael Agliano took second with 8.8 pounds. The team of Scott Jackson and Kenny Condgen tied with Kevin McSwain and Brandon Robinson for third with 7.4 pounds. Jackson and Condgen took big bass with a 3.6-pounder.

Larry Johnson and Harry Porter had 16.50 pounds to win the Fishing Misfits’ tournament Oct. 10 on Lake Juliana. Drew Carter and Ed Stevens had 15.22 pounds to take second, and they also took big bass with a 7.37-pounder. Andy Kimble and Daniel Douglas were third with 14.61 pounds.

Barry Weaver and Jessica Berry had a seven-fish aggregate of 10.10 pounds and a 1.81-pound big fish to win the Florida Crappie Club tournament Oct. 10 at Lake Lochloosa. Jack Rhoden and John Merck were second with 8.80 pounds. Mitch McGill and Daniel Pitts were third with 8.48 pounds. Weaver and Berry also took first place with their seven-fish aggregate of 10.10 pounds and 1.81-pound big fish during the Crappie Masters Florida Crappie Trail Tournament Oct. 10 on lakes Lochloosa and Orange. McGill and Pitts were second with 8.48 pounds. David Deckman and Grayson Deckman were third with 7.41 pounds.

Bob Rick and Scott May had 13.02 pounds to win the MacDill Bass Busters Club Tournament on Oct. 10 on Lake Rousseau. Rodney Hunter and Dan Duchesne took second with 11.78 pounds. Joe Krafchak and John McAllister took third with 10.96 pounds. Mike McKnight took big bass with a 6.57-pounder.

Scott Yutzy and Anthony Coffman had 14.30 pounds to win the Performance Bass Anglers tournament Oct. 10 on Lake Ariana. Sean Ripley and Joshua Dunn placed second with 13.70 pounds and also had big bass with a 4.94-pounder. Brad McPherson, fishing solo, took third with 10.90 pounds. Ripley and Dunn also were named the club’s Anglers of the Year.

David Glenn had 29.95 pounds to win first place in the Winter Haven Lunker Lovers’ tournament Oct. 10-11 on the Harris Chain of Lakes. Lamar Middleton was second with 26.85 pounds. Barry Edie was third with 21.98 pounds. Chris Morehead was fourth with 18.19 pounds. Bob Williams took big bass with a 6.99-pounder.

Michael Bechard and Curtis Bechard had 24.12 pounds and a 9.31-pound big bass to win the Polk County Division of the Xtreme Bass Series tournament Oct. 11 on the Winter Haven Chain. Trammel Vickers and Terry Pierce took second with 20.24 pounds. Earl Dowdy and Eddie Yearry took third with 15.75 pounds.

The first CATCH’EM CRAPPIE tournament of the new season, held by Hoppy’s Marine, is Oct. 24 at Port Hatchineha. Safe light to noon. Up to four anglers per boat with a $60 fee per boat, plus $5 ramp fee. Heaviest six fish go toward place prizes and big fish. The Lake Wales Breakfast Rotary Club 17th annual Reel ‘Em in For Rotary Charity Bass Tournament will be Nov. 14 at Lake Kissimmee out of Camp Mack. Safe light to 2 p.m. Entry fee is $85 per boat pre-registered and $100 day of the event. Ramp fee is $6 paid at ramp. First six places are guaranteed prize money along with a big fish pot.
